British-Argentine Soprano Ceferina Penny recently made her company debut with Scottish Opera as the Soprano soloist for their Opera Highlights tour. In 2024/25, she was a Young Artist at the National Opera Studio (NOS), where she was a Sybil Tutton Award holder. She completed her undergraduate and master’s studies at the Royal College of Music. Upon beginning her studies, she made her professional debut with ENO as The Slave in Salome. In 2023, Ceferina performed the role of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, with Westminster Opera Company. At NOS, her scenes included Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), The Governess (The Turn of the Screw) , Poppea (L’incoronazione di Poppea), Musetta (La Bohème), Ilia (Idomeneo) and Giulietta (I Capuleti e i Montecchi). As a Britten Pears Young Artist 2024, Ceferina won the Elizabeth Harwood Memorial Award and last Summer, she returned to Britten Pears Arts to give a recital of Mélodie and Lieder as part of the Aldeburgh Festival. She is an Opera Prelude Young Artist for 2026 and this Spring, will make her role debut as Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi or ‘Where there’s a will’ with OperaUpClose.
