MAKING WORK WORK FOR WOMEN*

SWAP’ra Makes Space was established in 2020 as a series of targeted gatherings designed to focus on the challenges women* face within their own disciplines. The isolation that many female* creatives experience, particularly during the pandemic, has a far more damaging impact on career progression and quality of life than is often given credit.

Each session was facilitated by a member of SWAP'ra along with a guest speaker. The aim was to foster a feeling of community and peer-to-peer support, offering time and space to exchange ideas and resources to leave you feeling positive, connected, and empowered. From these initial conversations, SWAP’ra will develop bespoke, ongoing events that are tailored to the needs identified for each #MakeSpace network.

We held three gatherings:

SWAP’ra Makes Space

- Women* in Percussion (Monday 8 February)

- Women* in Stage Management (Monday 1 March)

- Women* in Brass (Monday 29 March)

*Inclusive of all female-identifying and/or non-binary folk
