Opera Dialogues is a brand new podcast from SWAP’ra, exploring the realities of parenting through radically honest conversations, shared experiences, and practical insights from those who’ve been there.
Hosted by mezzo soprano Kitty Whately and opera director Nina Brazier, this new series shines a light on the experiences of parents navigating the industry, creating space for open dialogue, genuine connection, and mutual support.
From singing during pregnancy and returning to the stage after birth, to navigating finances, IVF, postpartum depression, childcare, and the challenges and joys of juggling family life with a career in opera, this new podcast explores the full spectrum of the parenting experience. Through candid conversations with artists at all different stages, Opera Dialogues aims to foster understanding, reduce isolation, and build a more connected and supportive opera community.

Kitty Whately is an award-winning mezzo-soprano whose career has taken her to many of the world's leading opera houses and concert stages, earning recognition for her artistry across opera, song, and her extensive recordings. A founding member of SWAP’ra, she is a passionate advocate for women and parents in the performing arts, working to foster a more inclusive and supportive opera industry.
Nina Brazier is an opera director whose work is driven by a passion for storytelling, collaboration, and creating meaningful connections between artists and audiences. She is the creator and host of the acclaimed podcasts The Opera Pod and OperaVision: Next Generation, and is committed to fostering open conversations that support a more inclusive, sustainable, and compassionate opera industry.
