SINGER BIOGRAPHY:

Cretan soprano Theano Papadaki is praised for her magnetic stage presence and expressive intelligence. In 2025 she was a soloist for the opening concert of the Edinburgh International Festival, performing Tavener’s The Veil of the Temple with The Monteverdi Choir to critical acclaim. This season she returned to St Martin-in-the-Fields for a recital with pianist Sholto Kynoch, presenting a programme inspired by the Mediterranean folk traditions, which they will tour in 2026 to Oxford Lieder, the Elgar Concert Hall, and further venues in the UK and abroad. Previous recitals at St Martin’s include Reimann’s cycle of Mendelssohn arrangements '…oder soll es Tod bedeuten?' with the Kyan Quartet. In November, Theano performed the title role in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea with Hampstead Garden Opera to enthusiastic reviews. A graduate of the Guildhall with Distinction, she worked with Sir John Eliot Gardiner as a soloist for Deutsche Grammophon’s A Journey through Monteverdi’s Italy, performing alongside leading artists. Theano won Third Prize at the International Lied Competition in Görlitz with pianist Thomas Eeckhout. She is a Britten Pears Young Artist and a City Music Foundation Artist, holding diplomas in singing and violin as well as a Master’s degree in Musicology and Music Education.
