SINGER BIOGRAPHY:

Mezzo-soprano Maria Willis is a graduate of the Royal College of Music, where she was a Sheila Saam Memorial Scholar and supported by the Josephine Baker Trust. She currently studies with Raymond Connell. For the past two years, Maria has performed in numerous operas, concerts and the BBC Proms as a member of the Glyndebourne Festival Chorus. Operatic roles include Miss Watkins (Young Artist) in Itch (Opera Holland Park); Dame in The Merry Widow (Glyndebourne); Un patre in Enfant et les Sortilèges (RCM); cover Stewardess in Flight (RCM); Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel (Waterperry Opera Festival Young Artist Scenes), and Dido in Dido and Aeneas (Waterperry YA Scenes). Oratorio and concert repertoire include Elgar’s Sea Pictures, Beethoven’s Mass in C, Deruffle’s Requiem, and Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle.
