SINGER BIOGRAPHY:

Louise Martyn is an Irish soprano based in Edinburgh, singing and teaching professionally. Her true joy is making great music with inspirational people, driving her collaborative work from the operatic stage to intimate recitals. Particularly drawn to the art song repertoire and fueled by her affinity for poetry, Louise released the 2018 album, A blackbird singing, in remembrance of Irish Poet Francis Ledwidge. She frequently performs with pianist Nadanai Laohakunakorn. Louise just had the joy of singing Mimi in Fife Opera’s La bohème in November 2025. Other recent engagements include Gianetta in The Gondoliers (Edinburgh Festival Theatre & Buxton G&S Festival) and a Strauss Lieder Recital (Edinburgh Fringe). Louise trained extensively with dramatic soprano Vera Wenkert, and at the Birmingham Conservatoire, Royal Irish Academy of Music, and Swiss Opera Studio. Louise also performs with the Glasgow Bach Cantata Project, supporting the Glasgow City Mission. (www.louisemartyn.com)
