SINGER BIOGRAPHY:

Nottinghamshire born soprano Laura Postlethwaite is a recent graduate of Newcastle university, where she gained a first class honours degree in music. Throughout her studies, she has enjoyed performing with Samling Academy, where she gained skills in vocal technique and stagecraft, most recently performing the role of Second Woman in the academy’s staging of Dido and Aeneas, directed by Miranda Wright. While a student, Laura had the opportunity of taking her vocal studies abroad to the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock, Germany, where she was mentored by skilled répétiteurs and directors in opera, Lied and oratorio singing. Laura has performed in a number of festivals within the UK, including Carlisle and District Music and Drama Festival, where she was awarded the Molly Wilson Trophy, Joe Wallace Memorial Salver and the Cumberland News Trophy. Since graduating, Laura has enjoyed studying modern compositions, performing in Bedfordshire Youth Opera’s 2025 production of the Enchanted Pig as Day, the Sun’s fiancée, and has loved exploring the works of living female composers for the Rebecca Clarke song competition.
