SINGER BIOGRAPHY:
Soprano Erika Mädi Jones made her critically acclaimed debut as Elisabeth (Tannhäuser) at Longborough Festival Opera in summer 2016. Her operatic roles include Ellen Orford (Peter Grimes), Sieglinde (Die Walküre) and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni).
In concert, Erika has performed orchestral works such as Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and Ravel’s Shéhérazade, and has worked with conductors including Howard Williams, Diego Masson and Gerry Cornelius. Her oratorio appearances include Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Verdi’s Requiem and Brahms’s Ein Deutsches Requiem.
She has given recitals in venues across the UK, including Benjamin Britten’s Library at the Red House in Aldeburgh, St James’s Piccadilly and Blackheath Halls, and at festivals such as the London Song Festival, the Aldeburgh Festival and the Three Choirs Festival. She has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3’s Lunchtime Recital series and appeared as a guest on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune.
Described as a singer who combines great intensity and resonance with contrast and nuance, Erika is based in Shropshire and enjoys walking in the Shropshire Hills with Otto, her cockerpoo.
