Mezzo-soprano Carola Emrich-Fisher has been praised for her “creamy tone,” “mahogany timbre and supple translucence” (Boston Classical Review & Musical Intelligencer). She has appeared as soloist and professional ensemble member in the US, UK and Europe, under the direction of Sir Roger Norrington at the BBC Proms, with Cantata Singers, Boston Baroque, Handel and Haydn Society, Linden Baroque, Felici Opera, the Eisenach Consort and others; as Carmen (Carmen), Siebel (Faust), Phèdre (Hippolyte et Aricie), Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro), Annio (La Clemenza di Tito), Dido and Sorceress (Dido and Aeneas) and Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte). She has been featured Alto soloist in many oratorio performances and is an ardent advocate of women composers. She served as music director and performer for An Amazon Stept Out, Bee Rowlatt’s acclaimed play about Mary Wollstonecraft. Most recently, Carola performed the world premiere of Virginia Firnberg’s El arte de la pesca, a song cycle for mezzo and piano. Carola’s solo performances have been broadcast on several US radio stations. She was part of the Crear Art Song Masterclass, Fall Island Vocal Arts Seminar and Songfest.
