Praised for her ‘enchanting timbre’ (Opera Magazine), British soprano Alysia Hanshaw was a member of the 2023-25 Opera Studio at the Opéra National du Rhin. Alysia was recently awarded the Audience Prize in the 14th Concours International de Chant Baroque de Froville. In late 2025, she sang in the Jupiter Ensemble production of Theodora, which toured to France, Spain and Belgium. Previously performed roles include Solveig (Peer Gynt), Armida (Rinaldo), Nerea (Polifemo), Ombre d’une vierge (Guercoeur), La Princesse (L’enfant et les sortilèges) and the Dew Fairy (Hansel and Gretel). She made her Glyndebourne Festival Opera debut in 2023 as Sœur Antoine in Dialogues des Carmélites. Highlights from her concert work include Handel Messiah at the Ravenna Festival with the Accademia Bizantina, Les Noces by Stravinsky with the Opéra du Rhin and Ballet, Mozart Mass in C minor with the Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse and Mozart Requiem with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg. An experienced song performer, Alysia has appeared in recitals throughout the UK and France and was a Countess of Munster Recital Scheme Artist 2023-25. Alysia is a graduate of the Royal College of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music.
