Alison is from Hastings in East Sussex where she was surrounded by music thanks to her mother Gillian, a keen singer and pianist. Alison studied performing arts at the University of Winchester, specialising in classical voice under June Boyce-Tillman and Amanda Smallbone, followed by a Postgraduate Certificate in Music. She also plays the recorder. Alison is a military spouse and has enjoyed singing in choirs in the UK, Germany, Cyprus and the Netherlands. Alison was first introduced to the works of Grace Williams and Elizabeth Maconchy through taking part in the Hastings Musical Festival as a sixth former and has enjoyed performing them ever since. She is currently a music teacher at Knowl Hill School in Surrey and also teaches with Berkshire Music Trust. Alison has worked with pianist Amy Hansford for the past year.
