SINGER BIOGRAPHY:
Scottish Soprano, Katie Carmichael, has recently graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with her Masters of Music in Vocal Performance where she was taught by Elizabeth McCormack and supported in her studies by The Countess of Munster Musical Trust and the RCS Scholarship Fund.
Opera Credits include Pamina, Die Zauberflote (Lyric Opera Studio Weimar) and Servant, Cendrillon (RCS). In scenes Katie has performed the roles of Countess Almaviva, Le Nozze di Figaro (RCS), The Governess, The Turn of the Screw (RCS), Adina, L’elisir d’amore (RCS) and Alice Ford, Falstaff (RCS).
Katie’s solo concert repertoire includes Britten Rejoice in the lamb, Handel Utrecht te Deum HWV 278, Mahler Symphony No.4, Poulenc Gloria, Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle and Schubert Mass No.2 in G.
Awards include Governor’s Recital Competition 1st Prize, the A Ramsay Calder Debussy Prize, Leonie Kayser Competition 1st Prize, Winnie Busfield Award and 2nd Prize in the Kathleen Ferrier Society Bursary Competition for young singers.
Katie has been a young artist on the RCS Associate Artist Programme with Mezzo Soprano Karen Cargill and participated in Sir James MacMIllan’s Mentoring Programme with the Cumnock Tryst Festival in 2024. Katie was delighted to sing the title movement in the premier of The Pebbles We Keep by Monica McGhee at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on the 23rd November 2025, a song cycle celebrating the poetry, history and culture of Scottish women.
